High Risk Follow up

Comprehensive long-term follow-up of high-risk infants after neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) discharge has long been considered an essential part of neonatal care. The newborn unit is running a structured high risk follow- up clinic for NICU graduates in a quest for improving quality of services. This follows a multi-disciplinary approach involving neonatologist, ophthalmologist, otolaryngologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, clinical psychologist, dietician, and social worker. The aim is:

  1. Early detection of any deviation from normal child development in the future and hence starting early intervention
  2. Family education and support
  3. Training of medical professionals and
  4. Facilitating research
